There are many attractions and activities for you on the Bellarine Peninsula. The area is made up of a number of coastal townships:- Portarlington, Indented Heads, St Leonards, Drysdale, Queenscliff, Pt Lonsdale, Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads. These townships encompass a diversity of rural properties which range from sheep and cattle grazing to some of Victoria’s best wineries, olive groves and aquaculture.
Recreational activities play a key role in the success of the Bellarine Peninsula. The large surround of water from Port Phillip Bay provides safe, sheltered beaches for young swimmers and many water activities like windsurfing and skiing. If fishing is your forte then we have many piers and jetties where you can throw in a line. Cast off your boat from one of the many boat ramps around the peninsula giving you access to all points of the bay.
Inland there are plenty of golf courses, tennis courts, an aquatic centre and walking trails to keep you fit. A miniature railway is only a few minutes walk from Pelican Sands Bed and Breakfast, operates over the school holidays and many weekends during the year offering a scenic journey around the local park. For the more serious train buff, the Bellarine Railway Society runs a steam train regularly between Queenscliff and Drysdale.
Portarlington has a walking/cycle track that extends from Point Richards to St Leonards. There are picnic and toilet facilites along the way and you can swim at almost any point.
